Debut Album : Beneath the leaves
Gabriella released her debut album, Beneath the leaves : Montreal nature lofi earlier today. The album consists of ten Lo Fi tracks featuring nature recordings taken in and around Montreal.
After completing her studies in composition at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, where the main focus was concert music, Gabriella felt that she lacked training in the creation of digital music. What began simply as a casual training exercise quickly blossomed into an entire album of Lo Fi tracks. The instrumentation and mood of each track (see below) is inspired by the nature recording that it features.
- Beneath the leaves – 3:38 (birds)
- Heatwave – 4:51 (cicadas)
- Reminiscing in the dark – 4:21 (crickets and frogs)
- Misty musings – 3:23 (cars driving in the rain)
- Bad at being good – 4:44 (insects and birds)
- Fine, and you? – 3:59 (thunder storm)
- One day – 4:20 (a stream)
- Distant reflections – 3:53 (Canadian geese and other birds)
- Another goodbye – 3:40 (loons)
- And yet, I’d do it all again – 4:41 (a cricket and owls)

The project quickly became collaborative: Gabriella’s sister (Julia Canzani) created the album art, as well as an animation to accompany the album on YouTube.

The album is now out on all major streaming platforms.
